My wife, a Nestle employee, is getting a MacBook today. Over half a year ago, I wrote her why MacBook is better. She’s getting one! Yay!
Not that fast though. It comes with conditions.
- She’d have her Lenovo ThinkPad,
- and she’d be required to write a report where exactly MacBook was better.
After which the management would decide whether the employees of the design team of Nestle are worthy of MacBooks.
LOL. Imagine what a company that is. That alone is humiliating enough.
Then, we have no idea which MacBook that would be. A Pro? Our bets are:
- MacBook Pro 13, the cheapest. The most sane option. It’s good enough, it has ports, and it’s pro enough.
- MacBook Air, also 13. Obviously. Those people won’t waste a cent on an employee’s comfort. Same thing in principal, but USB-C everything makes it a bit harder for an average Joe to deal with the laptop. They may not care, since the office packed with USB-C displays, so… This option is more likely, but hey, isn’t an Air is just 8 GB RAM laptop in its basic configuration?
- MacBook Neo. I would laugh my ass off if they’d actually buy a Neo! It would be as if the company decided to sabotage this whole migration thing for designers. Giving an average employee a month to accomodate is idiotic enough.
And one option I’m particularly proud of:
- They’d bring some stupid-ass old MacBook circa 2009 and say ‘hah, told ya!’
Idiots.
We’ll see what would that be. A sane company would bring a 16 MacBook Pro for a designer, at least. And wouldn’t think twice. For myself, for any serious work, I’d rather get a 16 MacBook Pro than anything else. Personally, I could live with an Air too. But that’s me. I wouldn’t just do most of serious work on a laptop, when I can have a desktop.
Air 15
Air 15 it is! With a 24 GB RAM, huh! Well, my apologies the folks who bought it, it’s a pretty decent computer. Hats off, guys. I was really scared it would be fucking Neo. But it wasn’t.
