In my experience, software developers love automation. You can pry my CI/CD server from my cold, dead hands!
But what exactly do LLMs really automate? First of all, they are loosely specified and cannot be trusted to produce the same outputs given the same inputs. Second, they are expensive to run at scale, if you want to use them for anything beyond a demo or toy. Third, they are in constant flux. What works today may be broken tomorrow when the underlying model is updated.
For automation, I much prefer technology that is reproducible, well specified, cheap and efficient.
Yeah! Me too! Especially I love cheap for that, solely because that scales really well!
