Different terminal tools in Linux and macOS

Interesting, I’ve been making bash scripts for over a year now, and it was one of my favourite hobby projects. And it’s only now that I realise that these things — terminal tools — are different in these systems.

I mean, I know that for quite a long time, a decade maybe. But it’s only now that I realised that. Particularly, this comment made me think over it just once again:

Given that both grep and find are weird/inconsistent between BSD/GNU versions, and I typically use them piped together for the same things anyway, I’ve found that ripgrep is a nice/faster/universal alternative that is pretty unproblematic to install in whatever environment I want: https://github.com/BurntSushi/ripgrep

Followed by the joke:

But isnt that what AI is for? Writing syntactically correct regexes?

Also, I realised that I don’t have to use built-in tools, on my servers I can install everything I want. I guess I would rewrite my scripts over time, over and over again.
