I want to buy a MacBook Air and I’m barely holding myself back — it’s only $40.
Back when mine worked and wasn’t broken, I was super happy with it. Like an iPad and a typewriter for basic tasks. I don’t need it right now, so I’m holding off. It’s just a very convenient little toy. The price is so low because obviously it’s slow and doesn’t support new systems.
On Linux (because that’s what I use), it runs super quiet and super fast — though you can’t really do anything serious on it. But for example, for blogging, it covers 100% of my needs. Even image editing, as long as it’s not 3D.
I should add — it’s not like this is some rare ad. There are tons of them. That’s just what the prices are like now 😭
It’s the price of a battery. And there are even some units with more or less decent batteries. Basically free 😭
I could say it’s the price of a charger — but this specific one doesn’t even come with a charger. Full sets might be a little more expensive. The last time I bought something for that price was a Chromebook. That was the perfect little typing machine, but as of now, Linux is the only thing that really suits me. Or a Mac, but Linux is way better for my current needs.
The Chromebook I showed you — it’s nice, but it’s really frustrating how hard it is to install Linux on it. Very confusing. It can be complicated. On an old MacBook, it installs in 5 seconds — I can literally have everything I need up and running in 10 minutes.
But damn, for now I’m trying to talk myself out of things like this. Maybe if I decide to get something like that, it’ll be next year, for example.
