Local disks are actually cheaper!

My web server Raspberry Pi has 1 TB disk attached, and I’ve filled it for about 1%, it hosts all my websites, including my experiments and all their media.

Yet, somehow I’m still afraid of uploading even photos, not to say videos.

I want to rethink this. I’m not thinking twice when sending heavy media over whatever chat app I do that. Yet, uploading it to my own hardware, feels wasteful. Actually, that’s just the opposite. You can buy a decently good laptop-grade small used HDD for like $10, and it’ll serve your personal needs for years. For half a year, maybe, if you’re bombing 4K videos of your kids non-stop. Still, very cheap.
